Over the past three years, League of Legends’ international event has drawn over two million spectators, making MSI a historically very successful esports championship. The 2024 edition, which took place in Chengdu, China, was both the most watched esports event of the year and the most watched MSI edition in history.
MSI 2024 recorded over 200,000 more average viewers than the 2023 edition. The tournament the previous year drew an average of 802,500 viewers and peaked at slightly under 2.3 million. It’s important to note that the viewership for both of these events will be higher because Chinese platforms are not included in the Esports Charts.
