Electronic Arts (EA) has announced the development of a third-person, single-player Black Panther game in collaboration with Marvel Games. The game is being developed by a new studio called Cliffhanger Games and aims to provide fans with an immersive experience in the world of Wakanda.
Kevin Stephens, the former studio head of Monolith Productions, leads Cliffhanger Games. He stated that the game will offer players more agency and control over their narrative compared to previous story-driven video games. The studio intends to empower its team to bring the rich world of Black Panther to life.
Specific details about the game, such as its title, plot, and release date, have not been disclosed by Cliffhanger Games at this time.
The announcement coincides with the 57th anniversary of Black Panther’s comic debut. The first “Black Panther” movie, released by Marvel Studios in 2018, achieved immense success at the global box office. Its sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” premiered in November 2022 and became the most-watched Marvel premiere on Disney+ based on streaming hours.
Marvel has been partnering with various studios and publishers to create games based on its characters, including Sony’s Wolverine and Spider-Man 2 games. EA’s Motive Studio is also working on an Iron Man game.
